Tonial Quality Quails

10% reduction in bird mortality has made an impression on Roland Melosi owner of Tonial Quality Quails Sydney – that’s how much he has gained since introducing a Grander System.

Roland along with wife Philomena and son Giovanni, produce more than 30,000 quails a week with mortality in the 20,000 birds he breeds weekly down by more than 2000 since he started using Grander Water.

“It is feeding right through the whole farm and we have certainly found a difference in the fertility growth and also the mortality dropped quite dramatically,” he said.

“Just on the mortality side we have been able to reduce our mortality by at least 10% and that is a lot of money considering we hatch about 20,000 birds per week,” he said.

“Even now with the high temperatures we have had, it has knocked the birds round.  Generally, it always does but when we had extreme heat last year we had a lot more problems than we have had this year.  Now whether that is due to the Grander Water is another thing, but I put it down to that.”

Roland said he had also been showering the manure with the Grander Water and noticed a drop in the odour.  “The odour has definitely dropped but whether it is all attributed to the Grander System, I can’t say because I can’t quantify that.  However, since we started trialing it there has been a change.  I am still working on that.”
